The Swiss blockchain startup Agora participated in the counting of the results of the presidential elections in Sierra Leone. The Government of the African country used blockchain technology to improve the transparency of elections. The company Agora cooperated with the European Commission, which helped the operators of blockchain-nodes from the Red Cross, the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology and the University of Fribourg. 16 candidates took part in the elections. The Agora team’s work in the Western District outstripped the results of the National Election Commission and NGOs: “The International Society for Fair Elections and Democracy.”
