Installation of hidden miners on more than two million computers was stopped by Kaspersky Lab in 2017. Against the backdrop of the increase in cryptocurrency rate, scammers are increasingly resorting to the hidden installation of the mining software on the computers of unsuspecting users. Penetrating through e-mail or Skype, the virus takes computers under its control and connects them to the hidden bitcoin mining. Hackers force other machines to earn money for them, and these computers are subject to huge utilization. The victim may notice that the load factor of her computer increases many times. Viruses that openly steal bitcoins have existed for several years already, and their spread is growing exponentially.
