The Bank of England considers the possibility of issuing its own digital currency. The bank has created a research group to study the prospects for the establishment of the national crypto money. It is planned that the new currency will be pegged to the pound sterling and will allow the residents of the UK to decline the services of small banks, maintaining the savings of digital assets in the Central Bank. The results of the research group will be ready by the end of 2018.
