The Russian Language Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) allows the inclusion of the words “Hype” and “Bitcoin” in explanatory dictionaries. The word “Hype” is a neologism that came to Russian from English and immediately entered youth slang. From English Hype translates as “active advertising; hype, excitement”. It is used in relation to some events covered in the media or the Internet (usually something fashionable at the moment). Another meaning of the “hype” word “HYIP”, originated from the English abbreviation — HYIP (High Yield Investment Program) means — a highly profitable investment program. It is the very frequency of the use of these words that raised the question of including them in explanatory dictionaries. In 2017, “bitcoin” and “hype” were among the top ten key events and phenomena according to Google Trends.
